G Love’s Got Cookie Love to Spread
Dec 23, 2008
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays ya’ll! Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat and so am I cause I can’t get enough of those good, old fashioned Christmas cookies. Besides carols, trees, church, family and presents, what says Christmas better than cookies?!? Now I know everyone says their Mom makes the best Christmas cookies but I’m gonna step up and lay down the God’s Honest Truth. My little sister makes the best, crunchiest, cinnamon-sugareriest, lightest, crispiest, banginest, christmassyiest christmas cookies ever to be served to Santa with a glass of milk. Peep out the recipe below. It’s a family recipe from my Grandma Mimi. Mimi made them good and my Mom makes them good too but lil’ sis has mastered the technique. Damn! They’re crunchy. She is the queen of holiday cookies.
Its a very simple recipe. Make sure you’ve got a lot of fun shaped cookie cutters and various types of sugar to sprinkle on the top. I love the cinnamon sugar the best. The secret to make these cookies great is to roll the dough as thin as humanly possible. The thinner the better. If the cookies are thin like paper then you will call me and say, “Damn G, you were right! These cookies are the finest Christmas cookies the world, Santa, Rudolph and all of his elves have ever tasted.” If you don’t roll them thin enough because you’re a lazy-ass Christmas cookie chef then you will just say, “Damn, G was right, these cookies are good and all, but they’re not the best in the world - G, you’re frontin’, my Mom’s are better”. Its gonna be up to you!
Here’s a hot tip from my lil’ sis: All you need to roll them this is a lot of elbow grease, make sure the dough is cold out of the fridge and roll it on a pastry cloth with a well floured silicone rolling pin or a rolling pin with a cloth cover.
Enjoy! Merry Christmas!
G. Love
My Grandmother’s Christmas Cookies
1/2 lb. butter (2 sticks)
2 C sugar
2 eggs
4 C. flour
pinch salt
1 tlb. Vanilla
1. Cream butter and sugar in mixer really well – until smooth and creamy
2. Beat in eggs one at a time
3. Add vanilla
4. Add flour, it will be very thick beat well so it is well mixed.
5. On a lightly floured surface, divide into 2 parts then divide into thirds. Flatten into pattiesand refrigerate for 24 hours.
6. Preheat oven to 350. Roll out dough, ½ patty at a time on a floured baking cloth. Either use a floured silicon rolling pin or a cloth rolling pin cover. As this will allow you to roll them very thin.
7. Use various cookie cutters and transfer to a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper
8. sprinkle with cinnamon sugar or colored sugars to decorate.
9. Bake for about 7 min. until light golden brown.
10. Store in cookie tins.

Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project Shoe Auction happening now!
Dec 10, 2008
What’s up Fam! Well, I’m chilling up in Boston in the pouring rain and getting ready to get back to tour in February. I wanted to let you all know about a charity event I’m involved with.
Its called the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project Shoe Auction and it’s going on now until December 12th I donated my shoes to this charity auction, a bunch of eco-minded people like me joined. People like Kelly Slater, Jack Johnson and Tristan Prettyman, Cameron Diaz, Matthew McConaughey, Matt Costa, Sophia Bush, Sal Masekela, Andrew Keegan, Nick Hexum (311), Lisa Andersen (pro-surfer) and more. That sounds like some cool shoes.
If you’re feeling it you can bid here until this Friday:
www.eBay.com/BarefootWine
All of the money raised at this auction goes to Surfrider Foundation - this great environmental organization that I’m a member of - they fight to keep our beaches clean and shores healthy all around the world.
This past spring I actually worked with the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project. We cleaned up Ditch Plains in Montauk, NY and then I performed for all the volunteers at a party near the beach.
Check out this picture of my dope Pumas. Oh yeah! Thanks a lot! G

Dec 08, 2008
Yo yo yo! What’s up y’all. Well, I’m singing again and sounding good as new thanks to the wonderful advancements in laser surgery and an amazing team of Doctors. Special thanks to Dr. Venu Divi and my voice coach Shirley Gherson.
I’m back money. So I’m feeling so good I called my manager J and told that man--book the tour. I’m ready.
So that’s that. G. Love and Special Sauce will be hitting the road in February and hitting it hard. Hopefully, we will be coming to a theater near you so stay tuned.
Thank you all for your kind words and support. I hope to see you soon.
Big ups! G

Yeah that’s right!
Even for people who tend to shy away from holidays, what’s not to love about Thanksgiving? Let’s give thanks for all of the positive aspects of our lives. And even though times are tough to say the least, there’s nothing like some turkey with all the fixin’s to help ease the pain. And don’t forget the pumpkin pieeeeeeeee. Yeah boyeee. I’m coming home Ma! Save me a seat! “

On The Mend

Greetings Crew! Wassup Lemonheads. Wassup Special Saussiers (that’s chef of sauce in French). I am now 8 days out from surgery and feeling good. I had the opportunity to see one of the best and most renowned Laryngologists in the world yesterday, Philadelphia’s own, Dr. Sataloff.
The kind Doctor scoped me and took me off of voice rest. Kind of. What does that mean? That means that every hour I can speak 5 to 10 mins in short 1 to 2 minute segments. This sounds kind of hard to keep track of. Honestly, it is a bit hard to keep track of, but I’m getting the gist of it. The long and short of it is that I should be singing within a month and ready for the stage by mid January. As you all know I’m off the road right now until mid February when we start our winter and spring tours so get ready. I know I’m gonna be ready to tear sh!t up! This is definitely the longest amount of time I’ve gone without a gig since I started gigging. Wierdness…
Anyways, its pouring rain in NYC and I’m gonna be jamming some blues shortly. I’ve been learning a lot of great songs straight off of Youtube. Computerized blues...My the times are a changin’...John Hurt’s version of “Creole Belle”, Big Bill Broonzy’s “Hey Hey”, and Bukka White’s “Jelly Roll Blues” to name a few.
Have a great day and keep your head up in these troubled times!
